مستخلص: Following important fi gures in the cultural history of nations, we can also focus on the fine arts, which capture their legacy and help preserve them in various forms in the historical memory for future generations. Among such forms of fi ne arts are book illustrations, being a part of book culture. We find them hidden in the historical library collections, which form one of the most signifi cant elements of our cultural heritage. The article deals with the depictions of St. Augustine in book illustrations of early prints authored by St. Augustine himself, which are deposited in the Collection of Old and Rare Documents of the State Scientifi c Library in Banská Bystrica.
