To explore the incidence and influencing factors of postoperative hypoglycemia in diabetic patients during the perioperative period and to construct a risk prediction model for postoperative hypoglycemia. Methods. Patients with T2DM admitted to the nonendocrinology department of Nanjing Drum Tower Hospital from December 2019 to January 2022 were included as research subjects. Basic information, hospital blood glucose management methods, laboratory indicators, and surgery-related indicators were collected. A risk prediction model and scoring table for postoperative hypoglycemia in patients with perioperative diabetes mellitus were established. Results. A total of 440 patients were included, of which 109 had hypoglycemia, resulting in an incidence of postoperative hypoglycemia of 24.78%. The results show that preoperative C-peptide and operation duration were risk factors for postoperative hypoglycemia, while BMI and preoperative fasting blood glucose were protective factors. Conclusion. The model constructed in this study is a good method for evaluating the risk of postoperative hypoglycemia. The scoring table intuitively quantifies the risk of risk factors for outcome variables and has strong clinical practicability.

    الوصف: The stage of decompensation is termed end-stage liver cirrhosis. Patients with decompensated cirrhosis (DCC) often have a variety of comorbidities that contribute to exacerbation of the disease and its high mortality rate. By comparing differential gene expression, transcriptomic analysis is useful for exploring relevant functional changes during disease progression. The purpose of this study was to identify differentially expressed long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) and mRNAs in patients with decompensated cirrhosis and to further explore the functions as well as interactions between lncRNAs and mRNAs. Four patients with decompensated cirrhosis and four controls with liver cirrhosis were recruited in this study. RNA was isolated from peripheral blood mononuclear cells, and RNA-seq was used for transcriptome analysis. The functions of differentially expressed mRNAs were revealed by Gene Ontology (GO) functional annotation and Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG) pathway enrichment analyses, and a regulatory network was also constructed. A total of 1046 differentially expressed mRNAs and 1175 lncRNAs were identified between the decompensated cirrhosis patients and cirrhosis controls. Functional enrichment analyses indicated enrichment of genes involved in pathways related to inflammation and cellular metabolic activities. In addition, the findings suggested that the phagosome/endosome/autophagy-lysosome pathway might play an important role in cirrhotic decompensation. In summary, this study identified differentially expressed mRNAs (DE-mRNAs) and DE-lncRNAs and predicted the biological processes and signaling pathways involved in cirrhotic decompensation, which might provide new ideas for further revealing the molecular mechanism of DCC pathogenesis.

    الوصف: Hollow microspheres are widely used in syntactic foam as a lightweight filling material. Hollow glass microspheres (HGM) and hollow phenolic microspheres (HPM) were added to the phenolic resin to prepare phenolic syntactic foams. Then the mechanical properties, thermal insulation properties, and thermal property stability of them were studied. The mechanical test result shows that the flexural strength of phenolic syntactic foam gradually decreases with the increasing volume fraction of microspheres at room temperature. When the volume fraction of HGM is 20%, the specific strength of phenolic syntactic foam can rise to 0.0334 Nm/kg. HGM reduces the density of the phenolic syntactic foam and remains at high strength. In addition, the thermal conductivity of phenolic syntactic foam decreases with the increasing volume fraction of the hollow microspheres, indicating that the microspheres can effectively improve the thermal insulation performance of the phenolic syntactic foam. Meanwhile, the thermal conductivity of phenolic syntactic foam also increases as the heat treatment temperature rises. In addition, the thermal insulation performance of phenolic syntactic foam containing HGM is better than that containing HPM. Thermal analysis experiments show that the thermal weight loss rate becomes slower as the content of HGM increases. Therefore, HGM improves the thermal stability of the containing phenolic syntactic foam. However, the HPM reduces the thermal decomposition temperature and the thermal stability of the phenolic syntactic foam. This work provides the technical basis for applying phenolic syntactic foam as a heat insulation material.

    الوصف: This paper presents design and testing of a shell-encapsulated solar collector which can be used in north area of China for wall-amounting installation. The designed solar collector is based on the combination of a novel compound curved surface concentrator and an aluminum concentric solar receiver, which is contained in a glass evacuated-tube. As there is no perforative joint between the double-skin glass evacuated-tube and the aluminum concentric solar receiver, the difficulty of vacuum keeping for a glass-metal joint is avoided. The cavity shell provides an additional thermal insulation to reduce heat loss of the designed solar collector. The working principle of the compound curved surface concentrator is described. The ray-tracing results are given to show the effect of deviation angle of the concentrator on its optical efficiency, hence determining its maximum acceptance angle. A prototype of the designed solar collector has been constructed and tested under the sunny winter weather condition. The experimental results indicate that the hot water temperature higher than 80°C with a daily average efficiency of about 45~50% has been achieved at the average ambient temperature below 0°C, so the designed solar collector can produce hot water at a useful temperature in winter.

    الوصف: UV radiation is a main factor to reduce the service life of asphalt pavement due to the UV aging of asphalt binder. To obtain enhanced UV aging resistance, an organic UV absorber called 2-hydroxy-4-n-octoxy-benzophenone (HNOB) had been intercalated into an inorganic UV absorber called Zn/Al layered double hydroxide (LDH) to play a combined anti-UV role in asphalt binder. Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy revealed that HNOB anions have been intercalated into the interlayer galleries of Zn/Al-LDH containing HNOB anions (Zn/Al-HNOB−-LDH). X-ray diffraction results of Zn/Al-LDH containing CO32− anions (Zn/Al-CO32--LDH) and Zn/Al-CO32--LDH/styrene-butadiene-styrene (SBS) modified asphalt disclosed that asphalt molecules entered into LDH interlayer galleries to form an expanded phase structure. UV-Vis absorbance patterns showed that Zn/Al-HNOB−-LDH has a better capacity of blocking UV light due to the synergetic effect of HNOB and Zn/Al-LDH. The chemical fractions analysis, conventional physical tests, and rheological tests of SBS modified asphalt, Zn/Al-CO32--LDH/SBS modified asphalt, and Zn/Al-HNOB−-LDH/SBS modified asphalt before and after UV aging testified that Zn/Al-HNOB−-LDH can improve the UV aging resistance of SBS modified asphalt more significantly.

    الوصف: Since the relationship between the supply and demand of fossil fuels is on edge in the long run, the contradiction between the economic growth and limited resources will hinder the sustainable development of the Chinese society. This paper aims to analyze the input of fossil fuels in China during 2000–2010 via the material flow analysis (MFA) that takes hidden flows into account. With coal, oil, and natural gas quantified by MFA, three indexes, consumption and supply ratio (C/S ratio), resource consumption intensity (RCI), and fossil fuels productivity (FFP), are proposed to reflect the interactions between population, GDP, and fossil fuels. The results indicated that in the past 11 years, China’s requirement for fossil fuels has been increasing continuously because of the growing mine productivity in domestic areas, which also leads to a single energy consumption structure as well as excessive dependence on the domestic exploitation. It is advisable to control the fossil fuels consumption by energy recycling and new energy facilities’ popularization in order to lead a sustainable access to nonrenewable resources and decrease the soaring carbon emissions.

    الوصف: In construction industry, the research and development (R&D) and application of green building technologies (GBTs) are crucial to promote the development of green buildings. From the perspective of supply-demand subject populations, this paper discusses the dynamic evolution process of strategy between individuals within construction enterprise populations and between construction enterprise populations and consumer populations. Firstly, based on Moran process, the stochastic evolutionary game model of construction enterprises adopting independent innovation strategy was constructed to obtain the conditions for the dominance of independent innovation strategy. Next, the bimatrix game model of construction enterprise populations and consumer populations was constructed to obtain the equilibrium frequency of the joint strategy. Then, the influence laws of the change of parameters on game were discussed through numerical simulations. The results show that (1) reducing the cost of independent R&D cost, reducing the spillover effect coefficient, increasing the loss of technology introduction, and increasing R&D subsidies for independent innovation construction enterprises are all conducive to IIS becoming an evolutionary stable strategy. (2) The marginal effect of IIS increases with the decrease in the spillover effect coefficient, the increase in the loss of technology introduction of construction enterprises, and the increase R&D subsidies. (3) The smaller the mutation rate is, the greater the cross-price sensitivity coefficient is, the greater the green sensitivity coefficient is, the greater the probability of government active encouragement is, and the more dominant (production of green buildings, purchase of green buildings) is. Finally, relevant measures and suggestions are proposed.

    الوصف: Faced with goal to improve ecological environment, water pollution treatment in river basins has been one of research focuses in recent years. Based on the basic characteristics of the river basins including main stream and multiple or multilevel tributaries, considering competitive relationship and cost-sharing mechanism of water pollution control, a differential game model of pollution elimination including main stream government and two tributary governments was constructed, and the equilibrium strategies under two situations of noncooperation mechanism and cost-sharing mechanism were discussed. The results show that Stackelberg game model based on cost-sharing mechanism can improve the pollution elimination effect and achieve Pareto improvement of the environment and economy. Then, through numerical analysis, influence of factors such as competition coefficient on pollutant elimination effect, tripartite effort, and optimal cost-sharing ratio were discussed. The results show that, in order to effectively reduce pollutant and improve environmental benefits, the greater pressure on tributary governments to develop the economy and the smaller degree of pollution treatment efforts, the more cost-sharing mechanism needed, and the higher main stream government’s cost-sharing proportion to the tributary government. When the pollution eliminating-quantity on unit effort of one tributary government increases, the revenue of main stream and tributary governments will increase; simultaneously, when the effort degree of the tributary government increases, the other decreases. The optimal cost-sharing proportions of main stream government to two tributaries are different which is influenced by many factors, and the influence rule presents stable monotonic increase or decrease. The research conclusions can provide reference for the governments to negotiate and determine cost-sharing mechanism.

    الوصف: Approximately 10% of von Willebrand factor (VWF) gene variants are suspected to disrupt messenger RNA (mRNA) processing, the number of which might be underestimated due to the lack of transcript assays. In the present study, we provided a detailed strategy to evaluate the effects of nine putative splice site variants (PSSVs) of VWF on mRNA processing as well as protein properties and establish their genotype-phenotype relationships. Eight of nine PSSVs affected VWF splicing: c.322AT, c.1534-13_1551delinsCA, and c.8116-2del caused exon skipping; c.221-2AC, c.323+1GT, and c.2547-13TA resulted in the activation of cryptic splice sites; c.2684AG led to exon skipping and activation of a cryptic splice site; c.2968-14AG created a new splice site. The remaining c.5171-9del was likely benign. The efficiency of nonsense-mediated mRNA decay (NMD) was much higher in platelets compared to leukocytes, impairing the identification of aberrant transcripts in 4 of 8 PSSVs. The nonsense variant c.322AT partially impaired mRNA processing, leaking a small amount of correct transcripts with c.322T (p.Arg108*), while the missense variant c.2684AG totally disrupted normal splicing of VWF, rather than produced mutant protein with the substitution of Gln895Arg. The results of this study would certainly add novel insights into the molecular events behind von Willebrand disease.

    الوصف: The ongoing coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) is posing a great threat to the global economy and public health security. Together with the acknowledged angiotensin-converting enzyme 2, glucose-regulated protein 78, transferrin receptor, AXL, kidney injury molecule-1, and neuropilin 1 are also identified as potential receptors to mediate SARS-CoV-2 infection. Therefore, how to inhibit or delay the binding of SARS-CoV-2 with the abovementioned receptors is a key step for the prevention and treatment of COVID-19. As the third gasotransmitter, hydrogen sulfide (H2S) plays an important role in many physiological and pathophysiological processes. Recently, survivors were reported to have significantly higher H2S levels in COVID-19 patients, and mortality was significantly greater among patients with decreased H2S levels. Considering that the beneficial role of H2S against COVID-19 and COVID-19-induced comorbidities and multiorgan damage has been well-examined and reported in some excellent reviews, this review will discuss the recent findings on the potential receptors of SARS-CoV-2 and how H2S modulates the above receptors, in turn blocking SARS-CoV-2 entry into host cells.
