    مستخلص: Child Sexual Abuse (CSA) is widespread and pervasive in Pakistan, presenting a significant threat to a child's physical health, psychological well-being, and overall development. This study aimed to empirically substantiate the understanding of parents regarding CSA and their utilized preventive strategies. The study utilized Social Ecological Theory to gain a deeper comprehension of the phenomenon. Data was collected through in-depth semi-structured interviews with 18 parents from Islamabad capital city, using a qualitative phenomenological research approach along with thematic analysis. Results reveal that most of the parents were highly aware of the most common aspects of sexual assault and molestation, but they were unaware of the more manipulative subtle forms such as "grooming." Additionally, they had a limited understanding of the long-term consequences of sexual abuse. While many parents knew about the option of involving the police in cases of abuse, they were unaware of helpline services and the availability of psychological support. In terms of prevention, most parents employed an integrated approach involving various preventive measures, such as educating their children about appropriate and inappropriate touch. These findings underscore the importance of implementing public-focused initiatives and community-based programs to enhance parental awareness, knowledge, and capabilities in preventing CSA in Pakistan.     مستخلص: Postpartum mental health problems are common and have deleterious effects on new mothers and their babies. This study developed a theoretically informed model of the relationship between exposure to images of motherhood in online parenting content and mothers' postpartum mental health. The model was tested using survey data collected from 509 Chinese mothers during their 12-month postpartum period. The results revealed that greater exposure to online public parenting content was indirectly related to lower levels of shame among new mothers via two mediators: the presumed influence of parenting media content on their partners, and the mothers' perceptions of the discrepancy between their actual selves as mothers and their partners' expectations of an ideal mother (i.e. actual/own – ideal/partner self-discrepancy). In contrast, increased exposure to online private parenting content shared by peers was indirectly related to increased levels of shame among new mothers via the mediation of social comparison with parenting media images, and of the mothers' perceptions of the discrepancy between their actual selves as mothers and their own expectations of an ideal mother (i.e. actual/own – ideal/own self-discrepancy). Additionally, new mothers were more likely to experience depressive symptoms and shame if they felt that they fell short of their partners' expectations of an ideal mother.     مستخلص: Adolescent mothers experience high levels of psychological distress due to social disadvantage, adversities, and limited supports. These issues were exasperated by the requirement of pandemic stay-at-home orders and the closing of in-person programs and services. Given the risks associated with adolescent mothering and the impact on their children's developmental functioning, it is imperative that intervention programs are implemented to support these young mothers. There is a dearth of research that explores the feasibility of using online programming with adolescent mothers. This article describes our experiences delivering an arts-based mindfulness program online to adolescent mothers during the COVID-19 pandemic. Several challenges were encountered with respect to engagement and facilitation including high attrition rates and numerous disruptions during programming. Although the participants were motivated and interested in the program, they experienced numerous barriers to attendance and participation. Challenges with respect to technology, parenting, and family life significantly impacted the feasibility of online delivery. Future studies could attempt to address the social inequalities experienced by adolescent mothers to improve engagement and the effectiveness of online programs. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Most interventions targeted birth parents to facilitate reunification and support the family, with outcomes being mainly favorable particularly for engagement in treatment and reunification outcomes. However, few studies employed rigorous research designs, suggesting several avenues for future practice and research such as advancing the rigor of the evidence and collaborating with peers to provide comprehensive services and enhance family outcomes.     مستخلص: This study explores whether young, low-income mothers' prenatal attachment to their infants is related to attachment and parenting behaviour postnatally. A small literature has documented continuity in maternal attachment from pregnancy to postpartum and shown that early maternal attachment is associated with positive parenting behaviour. Less is known about whether prenatal attachment has a unique impact on parenting behaviour, or if it is primarily a step in the development of postnatal attachment, which in turn influences parenting. Additionally, it is unclear whether associations between attachment and early parenting might be attributable to other factors such as depressive symptoms. This longitudinal study followed young primiparous mothers from pregnancy through 3-weeks postnatal. 240 ethnically/racially diverse low-income American women reported their attachment-related thoughts and feelings and their depressive symptoms during pregnancy and postnatally. At 3 weeks postpartum, mothers were observed interacting with their infant. There was stability in attachment and depressive symptoms from pregnancy to postpartum. In multivariate path models, prenatal attachment was directly associated with two types of parenting behaviour: positive engagement and encouragement of learning, even when accounting for depressive symptoms and postnatal attachment. There was an indirect effect of prenatal attachment on sensitivity through postnatal attachment. The foundation of a mother's emotional connection to her infant begins before birth. Parenting support programmes for young mothers should begin during pregnancy. Supporting the establishment of positive prenatal attachment may also have a positive influence on later parenting behaviour among mothers, including mothers experiencing depressive symptoms.     مستخلص: Parental involvement is a cornerstone of success in supporting children with behavioral differences. However, having professionals provide intensive training to all parents in need of assistance is unattainable in many areas. The pyramidal parent training approach, where parents train other parents after first being trained by experts, supports generalization, collaboration, and makes training accessible in places where professional services are not available. A literature review was conducted to determine the scope of research on pyramidal parent training for families with children with ASD or another developmental disability. Eight relevant articles and one thesis were found. This research synthesized their training components, settings, foci, participants, designs, outcomes, social validity, and cultural responsiveness. Despite the many differences between the studies, two distinct forms of pyramidal parent training were identified: (1) Parent Training within a Family and (2) Parent Training among Families. The results show that regardless of the model, parent participants increased their skill acquisition to a similar degree whether trained by a professional or another parent. However, limited data were presented on the changes in the children's behaviors and shortcomings were found in the areas of outcomes, generalization, maintenance, and cultural responsiveness.     مستخلص: Children with acquired brain injury (ABI) are at risk of impairments in self-regulation and disruptive behavior. We aimed to investigate the effectiveness of the Signposts program to reduce disruptive behavior and improve self-regulation in Hispanic children with ABI, and reduce parental stress and improve parenting practices. Using a randomized controlled trial design, we assigned children (n = 71) and their parents to Signposts or generic telephone support. Blinded assessors conducted assessments at pre-intervention, immediately post-intervention, and at 3 months post-intervention. Signposts was effective in reducing dysfunctional parenting practices. Further, when analyzing participants at risk of behavioral disturbance (n = 46), Signposts was effective in reducing child disruptive behavior in the home environment and emotional self-regulation. No differences were found for parental stress, parent sense of competence, child disruptive behaviors at school, and child cognitive and behavioral self-regulation. The reduction in disruptive behavior was associated with the implementation of authoritative parenting practices (external regulation), and not associated with child self-regulation.     مستخلص: This paper explores a feasibility trial examining the effects of the Make Parenting A Pleasure (MPAP), a 12-week parent training program designed to promote family resilience by strengthening the following factors: parental resilience, social connections, concrete support in times of need, knowledge of parenting and child development, and social and emotional competence in children. Fifty-nine (59) participants were assigned to either a treatment group (n = 32) or a waitlist control group (n = 27). Results showed that participants in the MPAP treatment group demonstrated an increase in parenting skills and child development knowledge as well as a decrease in parental depression when compared to waitlist control group participants. Results emphasize the importance of promoting resiliency by supporting parents through direct instruction and skill development. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

    مستخلص: After several years of intensive parental skills training for parents of adolescents, extra topics were arising that were not covered in the program's curriculum. Stress, uncertainness, and strong emotions in dealing with adolescents and how to make positive contact were important issues that parents were still concerned about when leaving the group. This article describes the experiences of how extramindful parenting group training was used after the formal parenting skills training group ended. Parents were then learning to listen to the child with full attention, emotional awareness of the self and child, self-regulation in the parenting relationship, and self-compassion.     مستخلص: A public health emergency exists in the United States as a result of rising overdose deaths related to Opioid Use Disorder (OUD). With the rise of OUD has also come an increase in the number of children exposed to parents who suffer from an OUD. There is a pressing need for parenting interventions for individuals with OUD to provide safe environments for the children being reared in the face of this epidemic. Research on parenting with an OUD is sparse, but it is impractical to move linearly from basic research to program development and implementation given the urgent need for intervention - a trajectory that prior research has established takes approximately 17 years. We have created an outline of strategies that can be used to accelerate the pace of science so that parenting practices are more immediately improved for this population. First, we summarize what is already known about OUD and parenting to characterize mechanisms that existing interventions have targeted and optimal settings for the wide dissemination of implementable interventions. Next, we identify existing interventions that either specifically target parents with OUD or mechanisms specific to parents with OUD. We describe four different approaches for accelerating the pace of science to improve the lives of parents with OUD and their children. By doing so, we hope to provide a roadmap for future researchers and practitioners to deliver more timely evidence-based interventions to address the additional burden placed on families and communities due to the rise in OUD in the United States.
