مستخلص: This study analyses the macroeconomic effects of fiscal policy by estimating fiscal multipliers for Tunisia. The study is based on the Structural Vector Autoregression (SVAR) model and uses quarterly data from 2000Q1 to 2019Q4. Five main insights can be drawn from these results. First, fiscal multipliers are moderate, as suggested by earlier studies. Second, spending multipliers generated by total and consumption expenditures, respectively, are small, implying that government spending generates substantial crowding out effects. Third, investment multipliers are larger than consumption multipliers. Fourth, fiscal multipliers have declined in the post-2011 revolution period, suggesting that spending multipliers are lower during times of recession. Fifth, domestic supply shocks could shape the effects of fiscal policy and cause spending multipliers to fall. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

مستخلص: This study proposes a therblig-based evaluation technique as a new accessibility tool for physical products like home appliances that spinal cord injured users occasionally use. This study recruited nine spinal cord injured users for the interview and observation regarding home appliance usage and analytically structured their usage behaviors using therbligs. The therblig notations eventually referred to actual and potential accessibility issues that spinal cord injured users would encounter when using the home appliances. The primary therblig operations causing accessibility issues for spinal cord injured users were 'reach,' 'move,' 'grasp,' 'position,' and 'use', corresponding to their disability characteristics. In addition, this study proposed a new effective therblig called "hook," which is suitable for better representation of user behavior and accessibility evaluation of spinal cord users. This study provided an interaction-based accessibility evaluation technique, which is easy to learn and apply, especially for physical products. The therblig-based accessibility evaluation method describes the user behavior on a micro-scale and localizes a problematic operation throughout the task process during home appliance usage. Reach, Move, Grasp, Position and Use were the primary problematic therblig operations regarding home appliance usage of spinal cord injured users, resulting in low accessibility. A new therblig 'hook' was developed to describe the user behavior of spinal cord injured users. Therblig evaluation offers a more standardized, easy-to-learn accessibility evaluation method that does not require expertise but provides the latent needs of users. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

مستخلص: This paper theoretically examines the effect of an expansionary monetary policy on export quality and its ramifications on the aggregate employment of the unskilled workers in a competitive general equilibrium framework of a small open economy. Monetary policies are often pursued by the central bank of an economy to manage exchange rate fluctuations under a managed float regime, which may have adverse consequences for export-quality choices and thereby for export growth given the growing preference of buyers in richer nations for higher qualities of imports. Under optimal allocation of wealth over a portfolio of cash, domestic assets and foreign assets, we show that an increase in the domestic money supply affects the choice of export-quality through larger investment, capital formation and consequent endowment effect and through changes in the nominal exchange rate. Under less price-elastic demand for a non-traded good, export quality is upgraded when quality upgrading is relatively capital (than skill) intensive. The expansionary monetary policy may raise aggregate employment of unskilled workers due to larger investment and capital formation, but may lower it through changes in the quality of the export good. The overall effect is thus ambiguous. A larger initial size of bequests has a similar effect. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

مستخلص: Occurrence of five heavy elements (HEs) was analyzed in indoor dust (n = 45) in households from four settlements in Vojvodina Province, Serbia. Overall medians (mg/kg) of Pb (5.6), Ni (5.2), Cu (27), and Cr (6.8) were below soil background values, while median for Cd (1.1) exceeded it. Pollution load index showed that the households' microenvironment in examined region might be regarded as unpolluted. Integrated pollution index revealed low contamination by Pb, Ni, and Cr, but high with Cu and Cd. Source apportionment by principal component analysis and positive matrix factorization suggested two possible sources: outdoor pollution and household materials. Hazard index was below safe limit (<1), indicating no adverse non-carcinogenic health effects. Estimated total carcinogenic risk for children and adult population was not negligible. Results indicated that attention should be paid to the presence of HE in indoors to conduct effective control measures and to ensure the health of the population. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

مستخلص: Learning about how economic well-being—or the lack of well-being—shapes peoples' lives can enhance social work students' and professionals' efforts to "champion social progress powered by science," a stated aim of the Grand Challenges for Social Work. Yet social work and economics have pursued divergent paths since the late 20th century, inhibiting productive collaboration. Modern, pluralist approaches to economic literacy can restart cross-disciplinary conversations by: (a) encompassing a broad range of economic activity, including nonprofits, household production, and community engagement; (b) framing well-being as the goal of economic institutions; and (c) highlighting economic policy controversies. This article illustrates how this approach informs two Grand Challenges: (a) Reduce extreme economic inequality; and (b) Create social responses to a changing environment. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

مستخلص: The transition from rural to urban spurred by population growth and housing densification has implications for the planning of service provisions, not least domestic water supplies. The objective of this paper is to document the status of domestic water access and examine existing options for domestic water provision along the rural–urban transition. The study employs a combination of research methods in both data collection and analysis. Given the dual character (rural–urban) of the emerging urban centres, there is limited distinction in the domestic water services provided since they tend to be in between the two, in a state of transition. مستخلص: Individuals who cannot afford out of pocket medical expenses may reduce health care use, resulting in poorer health outcomes. To ease the situation, employers turn to financial technology ("fintech") health care credit applications. We examine whether an employer-sponsored credit fintech application (MedPut) helps employees manage medical expenses. Results of the analysis of variance (ANOVA) and probit regression models reveal MedPut users did worse financially and delayed health care due to cost more often than employees who did not use MedPut. Results may inform social work policy and direct practice perspectives on fin-tech and medical expenses. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

مستخلص: This paper applies a structural decomposition of the input-output tables to investigate the sources of changes in the GDP of China, paying special attention to the import substitution of intermediate inputs. It is argued that the specific way GDP is decomposed in this paper sheds more light on the origin of growth than does the conventional decomposition of GDP by its final demand components. The results of the decomposition show that import substitution of intermediate products, which is an act of de-globalization of trade and a model of industrialization some Asian newly industrializing economies followed decades earlier, also became important in China, but only belatedly: in 2011–2012 and 2013–2014. The phenomenon is found to be significant in the manufacture of (i) computer, electronic and optical products, (ii) chemicals and chemical products, (iii) coke and refined petroleum products, and (iv) basic metals. مستخلص: Information-based interventions are increasingly used to influence preferences or behaviour. Although information does not directly influence behaviour, it is still commonly used because it is inexpensive and provides immediate impacts. The objective of this study is to compare the impacts of information provision on households' stated preferences for improved water supply systems in Surabaya, Indonesia, and Kathmandu, Nepal. Surabaya and Kathmandu face different challenges in household water supply services. Stated preferences were elicited by using randomized conjoint analysis. In addition to the preference elicitation, the impacts of information on the willingness to pay were also estimated. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

مستخلص: Global efforts are still under way to ensure sustainable development goal 6 of providing enough clean water to sustain public health in many regions, and especially in the Arctic where the remoteness of communities and the harsh climate make water provision especially challenging. This study aimed to examine the sufficiency, accessibility, and affordability of water supplies in rural Greenland. The state of the water supply was investigated using quantitative data on infrastructure and demographics. Qualitative data on water-related practices and perceptions were collected through fieldwork and interviews in a selection of settlements. Generally, the supply of drinking water was found to be sufficient and affordable for most. However, access was severely constrained by the lack of piping to rural homes (20% were piped). The daily water consumption of residents from un-piped households was between 13 and 23 L/d/cap, i.e. within the basic access level according to WHO, which is in theory not sufficient to sustain public health. Several health risks could be caused by the low daily consumption in un-piped homes, and water saving practices induced by it – i.e. the use of shared handwashing basins, and household water storage, which could lead to degradation of water quality at the point-of-use.
