Abstract (English): This is a brief draft by Imam Muhammad Ibn Ahmad al-Mutawalli al-Shaffi'i (d.1248 H) in which he collected the three Qura'anic recitations complementary to the former seven ones.These three recitations are: The recitation of Abi Ja'far (Yazeed ibn al-Qa'qaa') based on the narration/report of Ibn Wardan and Ibn Jammaz, the recitatioation of Ya'coub ibn Ishaq al-Hadrami based on the narrarion/report of Ruwais and Rawh and, the third, the recitation of Khalaf ibn Hisham al-Asdi based on the narration/report of Ishaq ibn Ibraheem al-Marwazi and Idris ibn Abdul Kareem al-Baghdadi. In his recitation, al- Shafi'i followed Ibn Al-Jazari in "Al-Durra Al-Mudeea'a". The draft has, actually, not been thoroughly investigated before, and, though brief in size, it does have invaluable information that cannot be dispensed of and, moreover, it is easy to deal with. Abstract (Arabic): هذه رسالة مختصرة للإمام محمد بن أحمد المتولي الشافعي (1313هـ) جمع فيها القراءات الثلاث المتممة للعشر، وهي: قراءة أبي جعفر:يزيد بن القعقاع من روايتي ابن وَرْدَان وابن جمَّاز، وقراءة يعقوب بن إسحاق الحضرمي من روايتي رُوَيْس ورَوْح، وقراءة خلف بن هشام الأسدي من روايتي إسحاق بن إبراهيم المروزيِّ، وٕإدريس بن عبد الكريم البغدادي، وسلك فيها مسلك ابن الجزري في "الدرَّة المضيئة"، وقد عُنيت بنشرها لما لها من الأهمية العلمية في دائرة القراءات القرءانية، ولما اشتملت عليه من الفوائد الرصينة على الرغم من وجازة حجمها، وسهولة مآخذها، علماً بأن هذه الرسالة لم تظفر بتحقيق علميٍّ قبل عملي فيها. Abstract (English): Sheikh Mubarak took over the ruling of Kuwait after the incident of the murder of his two brothers. His reign witnessed Ottoman attempts to impose direct control over Kuwait, which was nominally subordinate to them through their Walis in Iraq. This was achieved by inciting the Ottoman authorities against Sheikh Mubarak and some supported his nephews including Yusuf Al-Ibrahim. Therefore, the Ottoman authorities applied some procedures such as taking charge of appointing the staff of customs and quarantine and having military action on the Kuwaiti borders; however, they failed in doing so. Accordingly, they accepted Sheikh Mubarak the ruler of Kuwait and appointed him a Deputy Governor there. Sheikh Mubarak managed to thwart the plans of Hamdi Pasha; the Ottoman Wali, against him. After deposition of the later, the Ottoman authorities took some procedures against Sheikh Mubarak because of their lack of confidence in his loyalty; however, the Ottomans retreated later and they were also against the military campaign of Yusuf Al-Ibrahim in Kuwait. That was because of the statesmanship of Sheikh Mubarak that helped him keep his country away from actual Ottoman control. Additionally, the Ottomans were fearful that the Kuwaitis would involve the English in the Arabian Gulf should they take any military action to control Kuwait. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract (Arabic): تولى الشيخ مبارك الحكم في الكويت بعد حادثة قتل أخويه، فشهدت فترة حكمه محاولات عثمانية لفرض السيطرة المباشرة على الكويت التي كانت تتبع لها اسميا، عن طريق ولاتها في العراق، حيث تمكنوا من تأليب السلطات العثمانية ضد الشيخ مبارك ووقف بعضهم إلى جانب أبناء أخويه ومعهم يوسف الإبراهيم، فأقدمت السلطات العثمانية على بعض الإجراءات كتعيين موظفي الجمارك والحجر الصحي، والتحرك العسكري على الحدود الكويتية ولكنها لم تفلح في ذلك، وقبلت بالشيخ مبارك حاكما للكويت وعينته قائم قام فيها، فقد تمكن الشيخ مبارك من إفشال مخططات الوالي العثماني حمدي باشا ضده، وبعد عزل الأخير عمدت السلطات العثمانية إلى بعض الإجراءات ضد الشيخ مبارك لعدم ثقتها في ولائه، ولكنها تراجعت عنها، كما وقفت ضد حملة يوسف الإبراهيم العسكرية على الكويت، ويرجع ذلك إلى ما يتمتع به الشيخ مبارك من حنكة سياسية ساعدته على المحافظة على بلاده بعيدا عن السيطرة العثمانية الفعلية، إضافة إلى تخوف السلطات العثمانية من إثارة الإنجليز في الخليج العربي إذا أقدمت على أي عمل عسكري لفرض سيطرتها على الكويت.
