مستخلص: The purpose of this paper is to investigate data relating to the outcomes of enterprise and entrepreneurship education (EEE) activity in UK higher education institutions (HEIs). This is achieved via the use of data obtained from the Research Excellence Framework (REF), the Teaching Excellence and Student Outcomes Framework (TEF), the Knowledge Excellence Framework (KEF) and the Higher Education Business and Community Interaction (HE-BCI) survey. Overall, the analysis suggests, powerfully, that EEE impacts research, teaching and knowledge exchange in a variety of ways. Firstly, it shows that EEE, in terms of the REF, may be up to 46 times more impactful than other management disciplines. Secondly, with regard to TEF submissions, it highlights a positive relationship between the use of the EEE terms and the award level achieved. Finally, research also demonstrates a link between membership of certain HEI mission groups and improved KEF metrics when compared to the sector averages. There is a clear need to research how to develop successful EEE interventions and demonstrate their impact on the graduate, the university ecosystem and the wider economy. These data sources and methodology have not previously been used to develop a narrative for EEE across a university sector in the UK.

مستخلص: The article aims to examine theoretical and practical relationships between academic excellence and competitiveness in university education. The survey was conducted among university employees. Evaluation of each factor was carried out using the five-point Likert scale. The highest and statistically significant assessment was received for the following factors: the growth of graduates' salaries (4.08, 3.89, 4.16), the number of foreign students (4.01, 4.44, 4.56), the amount of extra-budgetary income of universities from various types of activities (4.12, 4.27, 4.56), and the number of publications in indexed databases (3.69, 4.63, 3.81). Several factors with the closest assessments among all the respondents were identified. Besides, very low estimates of the quality of state participation in maintaining competitiveness and academic excellence in universities were revealed. The paper unveiled how the general theoretical correlation of competitiveness and academic excellence is realized in the practice of educational systems' public administration. Furthermore, the study disclosed the indicators used to assess universities' activities in the context of competitiveness and academic excellence. The author believes that the use of competitiveness category in describing the purpose of the academic excellence program is justified. The study identified several significant factors in improving academic performance and competitiveness that affect the position of universities in Russia and developing countries in international rankings. The example of the Russian Academic Excellence Project demonstrated that the provision by the authorities of an artificial competitive advantage to specific universities negatively affects the level of competitiveness of other Russian universities.

مستخلص: Located in Minnesota, Anoka-Ramsey Community College (ARCC) is an inspiring example of what a suburban community college can do to expand its ability to serve and reengage students with "some college, but no degree." As a finalist for the prestigious Aspen Prize for Community College Excellence in 2017, ARCC fulfills many roles common to community colleges in the U.S. The college has two campuses in the suburbs of the Twin Cities, that together offer over 100 degree, certificate, and transfer programs across its two campuses and also partners with area high schools to provide an extensive program for high school students that offers opportunities to take college-level courses in their secondary schools. ARCC joined the first cohort of IHEP's Degrees When Due (DWD) based on three factors: internal evaluation of student success and completion; alignment with state and system-wide initiatives; and pilot program alignment. This case study about ARCC, offers insights into how a suburban community college develops and adopts an initiative to reach students with some college, but no degree in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic.

مستخلص: The School of Languages and Applied Linguistics at the Open University (OU) radically re-designed its modern languages curriculum in 2014, launching its first suite of new modules in 2017. The institution as a whole has since also developed a new employability framework. Our paper describes the principles underpinning the design of the new curriculum, demonstrates how it is being implemented, and focuses on an initiative that involved our Associate Lecturers (ALs) in defining a 'well-rounded graduate' and reflecting on plurilingualism and their roles as language teachers in a distance-teaching institution. Presenting our Teaching Excellence project, its processes, and findings in this paper will allow colleagues who teach modern languages to replicate or adapt parts of our approach in their own settings, exemplifying to the wider world how language skills can become an inherent element of the well-rounded graduate in the 21st century. مستخلص: Centers for Teaching and Learning (CTLs) are at the forefront of many quality enhancement activities aimed at teaching and learning at universities and do not solely focus on supporting individual teacher in conducting quality teaching but are also playing a strategic role in the university. CTLs provide in other words holistic academic development. This article provides examples of how a CTL at the University of Southern Denmark has operationalised holistic academic development using Holt et al.'s points of leverage as a starting point. The leverage points are combined and exemplified to suggest a model for enhancing teaching quality which entails five levels; definitions, descriptions, documentation, evaluation and recognition of quality in teaching.

مستخلص: This study aimed to identify the degree of academic leaders' practice of excellence management in public and private Jordanian universities (Yarmouk University, University of Science and Technology, Al Al-Bayt University, Irbid National University, Jadara University, and Jerash University) from the faculty members' viewpoint. The descriptive survey method was adopted and to achieve the objectives of the study, a questionnaire was built to measure the degree of practicing excellence management consisting of (32) items distributed into (4) areas: leadership (10) items, policies, and strategies (5) items, human resources (5) items, and partnerships and resources (12) items. The study population consisted of all the (2077) faculty members in the Jordanian public and private universities in the first semester of the academic year 2020/2021. Where the study sample consisted of (405) academics who constitute (19%) of the study population. and were selected by a random stratified method. The results showed that the overall degree of academic leaders' practicing of excellence management in the public and private Jordanian universities was moderate, and the order of the areas on the scale was respectively as follows; Partnerships and Resources, leadership, Policies and strategies, and human resources, and that all of these areas came at a moderate degree. The results also showed that there were statistically significant differences at the level of statistical significance ([alpha] = 0.05) between the estimates of respondents in all areas (leadership, policies and strategies, human resources, partnerships, and resources) attributable to the difference in; the gender variable in favor of males, academic rank in favor of the professor, and the type of university in favor of public universities. Regarding these results, the researcher recommends giving more attention to the Department of Excellence, especially in the field of leadership, as well as the inclusion of Excellence Management as a basic criterion of performance quality standards in Jordanian public and private universities.

مستخلص: For over six decades Israel's system of higher education has been managed by the Ministry of Education and the Council for Higher Education (CHE). During this period, significant transitions have occurred in the academic system throughout the world and in Israel, leaving their mark on research and teaching and on the related regulatory agencies. The purpose of the study is to examine the need for regulation of higher education in a capitalist world, with Israel serving as a case study. The study examines the CHE's management of changes that occurred in the academic world and the overall considerations utilized by the pilots of this regulatory agency, which led to shaping policy from a perspective of time and with an eye to the challenges of the future, in comparison to supervisory agencies around the world. The research method is based on research literature addressing the system of higher education in Israel and elsewhere as well as on interviews with senior academics occupying key positions in the CHE in the past and present. The research findings indicate that the CHE has a bureaucratic image, a short-sighted policy, and that it reacts to events more than leading them, as opposed to its declared goal of promoting high standard, innovative, and accessible research and teaching processes to benefit the economy and society. The conclusion generated by the research findings is that implementation of a hybrid model suitable for the twenty first century, which combines liberalization and regulation, should be explored. This model will let institutions of higher education develop independently while reducing government supervision, and will allow the regulatory body to regulate their activity via incentives and restrictions, while identifying market failures that it will define. Such a regulatory body will include an array of academic experts from the field of higher education with proven experience in the fields of academic research and teaching, in order to separate the managing of Israel's system of higher education from politics and bureaucracy.

مستخلص: The "Excellence Initiative" was the largest competitive funding procedure to create German world-class universities and overcome the traditional Humboldtian homogenization of German higher education. This paper examines whether the Excellence Initiative has spurred financial inequality in the national higher education sector. For a period of 15 years, we analyze the third-party funding success of 78 universities that were either winning or losing in the competition. We find that the Excellence Initiative augmented pre-existing differences in third-party funding across institutions. However, this is a one-off level effect that does not initiate a further self-reinforcing divergence process as would be suggested by Matthew effects.

مستخلص: Within the vertically differentiated German university system, the Humboldtian ideal of the unity of research and teaching can no longer be taken for granted. We argue that the organizational academic profession actively pursues the erosion of the unity of research and teaching in their social partnership with the state, trading autonomy for proof of efficient public research and/or teaching services. The results of the 2018 "Academic Profession in Knowledge Societies" study show that the evolution of research policy at large universities and "Excellence Universities" in Germany has led to a focus on journal publication outputs and increasing third-party funding. Academics at "Excellence" and large universities have a strong preference for research over teaching. In spite of a lower teaching workload, academics at "Excellence Universities" teach more in bachelor courses compared to academics at large universities. Especially small universities are at risk of becoming teaching-oriented universities.
