Abstract (English): This study is an attempt to clarify and explain Hobbes' theory in the social contract and how to establish absolute rule based on the benefit of individuals. In this study we relied on the historical approach to monitor the reality in which this thinker lived, which influenced the intellectual trends, then the descriptive approach to explain and explain the political phenomena that Hobbes addressed in his theory, and then we moved to the analytical methodology to find out the most important ideas and conclusions brought by his theory . Abstract (Arabic): جاءت هذه الدراسة كمحاولة لتوضيح وتفسير نظرية هوبز في العقد الاجتماعي وكيفية اقامة الحكم المطلق على اساس منفعة الأفراد مبينة التسلسل المنطقي لنظريته التي تعتمد على السبيبة والمنهج التحليلي والاستنتاجات النهائية التي توصل اليها. واعتمدنا في هذه الدراسة على النهج التاريخي لرصد هذا الواقع الذي عاش فيه هذا المفكر, والذي اثر على الاتجاهات الفكرية, ثم المنهج الوصفي لبيان وتوضيح الظواهر السياسية التي عالجها هوبز في نظريته, وبعد ذلك انتقلنا الى المنهج التحليلي للوقوف على اهم الافكار والاستنتاجات التي جاءت بها نظريته. احتوت الدراسة على مقدمة وثلاثة مباحث واستنتاج وخاتمة. في المبحث الاول ظروف بلده ومجتمعه, وسيرة حياته وتطوره الفكري اما المبحث الثاني فجاء مبينا لمنهجه والاساس الفلسفي لنظريته, اما المبحث الاخير فاشتمل على فلسفته وتحليل الحكم .
