الوصف: “Teaching competency has different dimensions such as mastery of subject matter, enhancement of motivation of students, planning, presentation and evaluation skills and classroom managerial skills. Teacher possessing all these skills to reasonable extent can be a competent teacher”. The success of teaching mostly depends on some psychological and demographical factors of teachers. The relationship between teacher efficiency and intelligence was also the subject of study of many researchers. Many researchers indicated highly positive correlation between teaching success and intelligence. On the other the investigators concluded that the correlation between intelligence and teaching success in certain cases were positive, in some others negative, while in the rest non-significant. Therefore, it reveals to the need for further investigation and research, to find out the co-relationship between teacher efficiency and intelligence. In the present study, multi-stage stratified random sampling technique was adopted to draw the sample. The study was conducted on a sample of 589 teachers, selected from the 46 secondary schools of Bareilly region in U.P. For the purpose of measuring teaching efficiency and intelligence, the Teaching Efficiency Scale (TES)), were used. The results of the study indicate a significant and positive co-relation between intelligence and teacher efficiency.

This research aimed to design a reflection book as a set of problem-based learning (PBL) for a supplementary material in Microteaching class. The book was developed not only to assist pre-service English teachers (PSETs) undergoing Microteaching class to understand real problems in school context, but also to help them enhance their problem-solving skill through critical reflection and discussion. This book was designed by implementing ADDIE model, consisting of five phases, namely Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation. This product was formatively evaluated within the Analysis, Design, Development and Implementation phases and was field tested in Microteaching class comprising of 19 PSETs from the English Language Education Study Program in Tuladha University (pseudonym). In the last stage, summative evaluation was conducted by two subject matter experts whose background was both English education lecturers and book authors. Product validation included narrative story aspect and reflective activities. The validation result showed that the book was appropriate and practical for enhancing PSETs’ problem-solving skill.

This study uses an interdisciplinary approach to explore the interplay of linguistic and subject-matter learning. Drawing on previous linguistic work on discourse and genre acquisition, subject-matter teaching as well as the convergence of linguistic and content learning in multilingual classrooms, the study seeks to examine the following questions: (1) How can patterns of classroom talk support or hinder the acquisition of academic discourse competence and subject-matter learning? (2) How are these two learning domains related? The analyses of 120 video-recorded mathematics and German lessons in five classes (n=149 students, 10 teachers) in different German school types revealed two patterns of teacher-student-interaction, which differ in the participatory roles and the (language) learning opportunities they assign to the students. Two larger excerpts from mathematics-lessons are analyzed to illustrate the ways in which linguistic and content learning merge in the two patterns.
