مستخلص: Beliefs in supernatural agents or religious beliefs are pervasive, yet there are individual differences in such beliefs. Although various factors have been proposed as relevant, recent research has increasingly emphasized the importance of cultural learning, showing that enthusiastic religious behavior (credibility enhancing displays; CREDs) from parents predicts increased religious beliefs among their children. In addition to this kin-biased learning, Gervais and Najle (2015) analyzed data from the World Values Survey to demonstrate that the number of adults who show religious CREDs is also an important predictor of people's beliefs, indicating that individuals develop their religious beliefs through conformist learning. This pre-registration study aimed to replicate and extend these findings by analyzing data from the International Social Survey Programme (ISSP), which is another large social survey. We examined the generalizability of the results by analyzing multigenerational samples. Multilevel regression and signal detection analyses revealed that the presence of both kin-biased and conformist learning cues was significantly associated with respondents' religious beliefs. Moreover, they suggested tension between the two cultural learning cues, thereby suggesting that the effect of kin-biased learning on religious beliefs becomes stronger (weaker) when the cue for conformist learning is unclear (clear). These results support the idea that these two types of cultural learning are crucial to the development of religious beliefs. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

مستخلص: Clarifying the spatiotemporal distribution and influencing factors of mosque architecture in China's Hehuang region has significant positive implications for the overall protection and development of the region's architectural cultural heritage. This study utilizes field surveys and acquires POI data of traditional mosques built before 1993 in the region to analyze the distribution characteristics of mosques, aiming to explore future development trends of these religious structures. It also investigates the influencing factors, with the goal of emphasizing the primary and secondary factors affecting mosque distribution. The study finds the following: (1) Mosques are generally centered around the Huangshui Valley, displaying a "central clustering, peripheral dispersal" distribution pattern, forming a spatial structure of "two cores, one belt, multiple points", with distinct differentiation and overall uneven distribution. (2) Mosques are primarily situated at elevations between 2147 and 2764 m; on slopes less than 15°, in sunny and gentle slopes; within 20 km from rivers; within 14 km from roads; in areas receiving 400–500 mm annual rainfall; and within temperature ranges of 5.54–10.22 °C. (3) The study also finds that the spatial distribution of mosques is profoundly influenced by both natural geographical factors and human environmental factors. The better the natural location, the larger and denser the population, the richer the cultural resources, the higher the level of economic development, and the greater the concentration of Hui people, the more numerous and concentrated the mosques. (4) Population factors are the dominant factors for the clustered distribution of traditional mosques in the Hehuang area. Since the construction of mosques in the region is closely related to the number of Hui people and the proportion of Muslim adherents, areas with a high concentration of mosques also have relatively larger populations of Hui people. Temperature, precipitation, altitude, rivers, and roads are foundational factors for traditional mosques in the Hehuang area, influencing mosque distribution as external factors. مستخلص: Within the United States, conservative theological perspectives have exerted influential sociocultural influences toward LGBTQ+ communities, with profound implications toward ally development. Ally development can present its challenges, especially for those in non-affirming religious and/or spiritual (R/S) contexts. We employed a mixed methods approach, utilizing both Enhanced Critical Incident Technique and chi-square tests of independence, focusing on the self-identified incidents that influenced the internal negotiation process of 315 LGBTQ+ allies within R/S contexts. Participants described critical R/S incidents that impacted their ally development, and these incidents fell into four main categories: (1) the influence of religious organizations, leaderships, and congregants, (2) the impact of meaningful relationships, (3) the experience of spiritual or divine shifting events, and (4) meaning making. Additionally, participants identified wish list items represented by four main themes: (1) fostering ally development, (2) taking action, (3) nothing should have changed, and (4) wishing for support broadly. Chi-square tests of independence revealed that R/S incidences were related to specific wish list items. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

مستخلص: The religious identity formation process plays an important role in some people's lives; however, this identity domain has a lack of research. The aim of this study is to understand the process of religious identity development, based on identity formation theory, from a temporal integration perspective (Syed & McLean, 2016) which represents the developmental dimension of Erik Erikson's theory. Using qualitative methodology, we conducted 158 interviews: 45 semistructured reflective interviews and 113 monthly expressive open interviews over 1.5 years with 20 male emerging adults, age 18–20 years, in three religious Mechina gap year programs in Israel. Content analysis distinguished three components of religious identity – a conceptual component, a practical component and a collective component – which were found to be dominant in different stages of the religious identity formation process and in different social contexts. The findings, which point to two developmental models, relate also to the person-society integration perspective (Syed & McLean, 2016), which represents the contextual dimension of Erikson's theory; both the developmental and the contextual dimensions are lacking in James Marcia's operationalization of Erikson's theory. These findings also shed light on the necessity to relate all these components in the religious identity domain and have the potential for an integrative view of identity formation. مستخلص: The liturgical professional development project for pastoral workers and clergy in the Diocese of Rottenburg-Stuttgart has been developed in collaboration with the Department of Liturgical Studies at the University of Tübingen. The concept of biographical learning is the innovative element that explores a new type of liturgical formation (Bildung) where the learning content explores the participant's unique biography of learning, faith development, and theological education and the impact of these on their understanding of the liturgy and their liturgical practice. The learning process aims to equip professional pastoral theologians to reflect on and be responsive to the liturgical–pastoral contexts in which they work. The Department of Liturgical Studies provides the learning structure and context, while the diocese provides the teaching space and enables the participants to attend. The learning outcomes are unrelated to a specific professional or employment structure or associated with a points system, management, or career progression process. The project provides a learning process rather than a program of learning, distinguishing itself from many traditional approaches to liturgical formation. The challenge for the teaching team is to provide the participants with conceptual or theoretical material to reflect on their biographical narrative of theology and then apply this concept of biographical learning in their specific and diverse pastoral contexts. As part of the biographical learning process, participants contribute to "feedback loops" to the diocese and the teaching team. This paper does not address the competency framework for career development, employment assessment, or learning comprehension. All evaluations of professionalism, role attainment, career development, and competency are employment matters and are the purview of the Diocese of Rottenburg-Stuttgart. However, the learning process provides participants with frameworks for self-assessment and feedback loops to evaluate the teaching team, the process, and the content. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

مستخلص: Sexual minority individuals often have complicated relationships with conservative religion, including conflicts between their sexual and religious identities. Sexual minority members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (CJCLDS) experience unique struggles, given the policies and doctrine of the CJCLDS and its commitment to heteronormative family structures and gender roles. A better understanding of the identity development trajectory for sexual minority individuals formerly involved in the church can deepens our understanding of sexual identity development in constrained contexts and help promote successful identity integration within this subpopulation. Transcripts from semi-structured interviews with thirty-four sexual minority individuals who identified as former members of the CJCLDS were analyzed using an inductive thematic approach, followed by a deductive theory-building process in which Cass's Homosexual Identity Formation Model and Genia's Religious Identity Development Model were overlaid on themes. We present a model that captures the trajectory of sexual and religious identity development that captures the experiences of sexual minority adults within the constraints of the CJCLDS, a non-affirming religious denomination. مستخلص: Religious aid and development charities are quite numerous in the USA. However, it is unclear what the long-run economic and cultural impacts of religious philanthropy are within the recipient nation's affiliated population. To begin answering this question, this study employs descriptive methods by examining educational outcomes among Protestants in South Korea, following a 50-year effort by Protestant missionaries to establish formalized schools throughout the Korean Peninsula. Using modern data, the study finds a persistent, positive relationship between identifying as a Protestant and years of education across two datasets following South Koreans in different age cohorts. This relationship holds over the creation of the highly centralized South Korean education system, and the average years of education doubling over age cohorts in the sample. In addition to finding higher levels of education, the study finds that Korean Protestants are more likely to hold office or professional jobs but do not earn higher household incomes. Further indicating persistence, the study finds a cultural tie between current Korean Protestants and missionary aid based on the nation to which Korean Protestants feel closest to. Much of the observed economic relationship can be explained through religious attendance; however, the cultural missionary tie appears to be driven by Protestant affiliation. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
