Born out of the desire of a generous donor and his children to honour the memory of a loved one, a team of representatives from Montréal Sacré-Coeur Hospital Foundation (MSCHF), employees of the Hôpital en santé mentale Albert-Prévost (HSMAP), and administrators of both Centre intégré universitaire de santé et de services sociaux (CIUSSS) du Nord-de-l'Île-de-Montréal and Collège d'enseignement général et professionnel (CÉGEP) de Saint-Laurent was formed to offer musical scholar performances to the HSMAP's clientele. Duos of different backgrounds (classical, popular and jazz), made up of student musicians, were selected to play on a weekly basis, alternating between two floors of the hospital. This article wishes to recount how an innovative and intersectoral project was organized to offer a simple moment of musical listening to HSMAP's hospitalized clientele, and what positive impacts have been identified to date. A look at a project that was initially very personal, but with a very collective impact. |
