The article presents a study on effects of an empirically-designed nursing practice model on the outcome variables of job satisfaction, autonomy and retention turnover of nursing staff. The nursing practice model was tested using an experimental pretest/posttest design on two randomly selected nursing units. Significant differences were found between the control and experimental unit on the Job Satisfaction Index subscales of interaction, task requirements and autonomy. No significant differences were found in retention/turnover of staff between the experimental and control unit. |
