مستخلص: Maremma guardian dogs hâve been protecting Little Penguins ï iulyptuhi minorîtotn canid prédation at Mid-dle Island, Warrnambool, since 2006. loxes had preyed heavily on the penguins contributing to a population crash-from over 500 arrivais in the 1999-2000 breeding season, to less lhan 10 some five years later. Our monitoring of arrivais indicates numbcrs hâve grown to over 100 penguins. 'Die successful use of guardian dogs to protcct native wildlife and the strong eommunity participation and support for the prograin constîtutes whal lias become known as the 'Warrnambool Method' for wildlife conservation management.
