مستخلص: The experiment was conducted to study the effects of dietary supplementation of probiotic onbody weightin broiler rabbits. The study was conducted in semi arid region of Banaskantha District of North Gujarat region having latitude of 24.35° North and longitude of 72.59° East. Three dietary treatments were randomly and equally allotted to 30 rabbits at the age of 28 days. Thus, each treatment consisted of 10 rabbits. The three dietary treatments were: T1 as control (Basal diet), T2 (Basal diet+0.5 g probiotic) and T3 (Basal diet+1 g probiotic). The total experimental period lasted for 8 weeks. Observations were recorded for weekly body weight and weightgain. The data generated were analyzed by standard statistical procedure. At the end of experimental period i.e. at 12th week of age, T1 differed significantly (p<0.05) fromT2 and T3 group and there was no significant difference between T2 and T3for body weight. The average body weight gain was significantly (p<0.05) higher in T2 (248.4 ± 12.2 g) than T1 (202.6 ± 8.39g) during the 5th week of age. But there were no significant differences for body weight gains of entire experimental period among groups. The results of the study revealed that feeding probiotic was beneficial to certain extent in terms of improvement of body weight of broiler rabbits. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
