The chroniclers of Bulgarian education are indebted to Lidia Stoyanova. There has not been comprehensive study of her pedagogical activities and views so far. The reasons for this are complex. Despite the scant information about Lidia Stoyanova, most often her work is related to the education of children with special educational needs. Lidia Stoyanova's activity in spreading Maria Montessori's ideas in Bulgarian education remains in the shadows. However, this activity is multidirectional. She started with training and participation in International Montessori Congresses. Lidia Stoyanova applied what she had learned from the forums in her practice as a teacher. She also introduced the ideas of Maria Montessori to the future teachers, because she participated in their training as a basic specialist and teacher. Lidia Stoyanova is the author of publications in the specialized press on the Montessori method. She translated various materials by and about Maria Montessori.With her work Lidia Stoyanova undoubtedly contributes both to the spread of Maria Montessori's ideas in Bulgarian education and to its change in the spirit of European reformist pedagogy.
