مستخلص: The research was aimed to determine the characteristics of music education in Croatian schools, teachers' opinions about the importance of certain teaching areas, the frequency of performing certain music activities at the primary level of music education, and what activities are the pupils' favorites, according to the teacher. The study was conducted in Croatian primary schools in the Osijek-Baranja and Vukovar-Srijem counties with a sample of forty-eight classroom teachers. The results show that music teaching in Croatian primary schools is conducted through five different musical activities: singing, listening to music, playing an instrument, musical games, and musical creativity. In the teachers' opinions, the most important and frequent activity is singing. The pupils are most interested in that area, and through singing, they develop their skills and sense of rhythm. Listening to music is second in importance and teaching frequency. Musical creativity is the least important area to teachers, and it is rarely implemented in music teaching. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
