Abstract (English): The advent of virtual reality (VR) technologies is shaping a new shared learning environment. Thanks to low-cost portable devices, interactive and easy-to-use virtual connections, the student experience is evolving towards more authentic and effective hybrid forms, with a positive spill-over into out-of-school learning contexts, such as hospital schools. Indeed, the use of technology in the hospital school can improve the social inclusion and health status of young patients, who are hospitalized for medium- and long-term stays. It is therefore necessary to reflect on the possibility of experimenting with a didactic-communicative model based on the use of immersive reality for the hospital school, as an integrated form of care, to improve the quality of life and well-being of the contexts involved. Abstract (Italian): L’avvento delle tecnologie di realtà virtuale (VR) sta dando forma a un nuovo ambiente di apprendimento condiviso. Grazie a dispositivi portatili a basso costo e a connessioni virtuali interattive e facili da usare, l’esperienza degli studenti sta evolvendo verso forme ibride più autentiche ed efficaci, con una ricaduta positiva anche nei contesti di apprendimento extrascolastici, come la scuola ospedaliera. L’uso della tecnologia nella scuola ospedaliera, infatti, può migliorare l’inclusione sociale e lo stato di salute dei giovani pazienti, ricoverati per degenze di media e lunga durata. È quindi necessario riflettere sulla possibilità di sperimentare un modello didattico-comunicativo basato sull’uso della realtà immersiva per la scuola in ospedale, come forma integrata di cura, per migliorare la qualità della vita e il benessere dei contesti coinvolti.
