مستخلص: A recent study conducted at Telemark Hospital in Norway found that patients in remission from inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) commonly experience symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome (IBS). The study aimed to estimate the prevalence of IBS symptoms in a cohort of patients with IBD one year after their diagnosis. The researchers found that between 17% and 22% of patients reported IBS-like symptoms, depending on the definition of remission used. These rates were significantly higher than those reported in the general Norwegian population. The study also identified substantial fatigue and female sex as factors independently associated with IBS-like symptoms. [Extracted from the article]
