This article is a response to a comment made by Kawasaki et al. regarding a case report and literature review on primary pericardial synovial sarcoma. The authors agree with the comment and acknowledge the importance of molecular testing in diagnosing synovial sarcoma. They explain that the translocation (X; 18) is a chromosomal abnormality specific to synovial sarcoma, but there are rare cases that do not exhibit this translocation and have other gene changes. Molecular evaluation, such as FISH testing and gene sequencing, is necessary for an accurate diagnosis and to understand the prognosis and choose appropriate therapy. The authors emphasize the significance of imaging and molecular testing in achieving an accurate diagnosis and stress that molecular testing should not be marginalized. [Extracted from the article] |
