مستخلص: The British New Wave is a significant and debated period in British cinema history, with its films being widely studied in Film Studies courses. These films are seen as important for understanding national cinema, authorship, stardom, class, landscape, and realism. While some celebrate the New Wave, others criticize it for representing conservative English culture or mourn its lost radical potential. A recent conference at the University of Sheffield called "Revisiting the New Wave" aimed to reassess these films and explore their influence on other media. This special issue of the Journal of British Cinema & Television is a product of that conference, featuring articles that reflect on the New Wave's historical origins, gender and sexuality, working-class culture, and alternative creative labor. The issue challenges existing readings of the New Wave and offers new perspectives on its significance. The articles also highlight the ongoing relevance and critical interest in these films.
