The article reports on the assessment of the teams and teamwork in the libraries of University of Maryland (UM). As institutions recognized the need to keep pace with a rapidly changing information environment, teams has begun playing an important role in academic libraries more than ten years ago. The library's success is dependent on the understanding of how change takes place and whether the strategies to support these changes are implemented. The Individual-Team-organization (ITO) Survey has been used as an assessment tool to measure library staff perceptions in the team-based structure. The use of ITO Survey has aided the UM libraries to better see the challenges of and the solutions to establishing a culture of continuous learning among librarians and staff. |
