The article examines the social aspects of the Christmas holiday White Elephant Gift Exchange (which is also referred to as a Yankee Swap and Evil Santa) in North America. An overview of the White Elephant Exchange participants' putative desire to give what is referred to as the perfect Christmas gift is provided. An overview of the ritualistic aspects of the White Elephant Exchange, including in regard to the wrapping of gifts, is also provided. |
