Prior to the emergence, fruits infested byP.diospyriwaspsshowednoapparent symptoms of damage, which may contribute to the introduction of this insect into new agroecosystems through anthropogenic activities such as commercialization of the fruits among regions. Fruits were also collected in the municipality of Tepalcingo in the state of Morelos, Mexico (18°35'39.900N, 98°50'56.060Wand1174msnm),where B.ablusushasbeenpreviouslyreported in association with black sapote in Mexico (Castan ˜eda-Vildo 'zola et al. 2011). Thirty-nineadult P. diospyri (27 females and 12 males) were collected from inside damaged seeds, and each damaged seed had an average of 3.54± 1.12 P. diospyri wasps (N = 11, 2-6 wasps/seed). A total of 81 P. diospyri specimens (60femalesand21males)emergedfrom black sapote fruits collected from the eight sites and Tepalcingo mentioned above. [Extracted from the article] |
