Groin and scrotal pathologies are a common occurrence in children and one of the common reasons for referral to the Paediatric Urologist. The descent of the testis to the scrotum along with the role of the patent processus vaginalis (PPV) results in formation of inguinal hernias and hydroceles in children. Management of varicocele remains controversial within the adults and now increasingly is being seen and managed by the paediatric urologist. Long term functional outcomes of the condition are still a matter of debate. Abdomino-scrotal hydrocele is a recognised congenital problem. Uncommon conditions like spermatoceles may cause diagnosis dilemmas. The aim is to look at the practical aspects of diagnosis and evidence-based approach to management.
