The amidiniohydrazone group of the title compound (5-acetyl-4-methyl-2-methylthiopyrimidine amidinohydrazone dihydrochloride) has a trans conformation (E) and the (amidiniohydrazone)ethyl part of the molecule compares very well with the same chaining in mitoguazone and its analogue.
