الوصف: This paper describes a multi-purpose test rig used for submersible pump under weight reduction for improved performance. The main objective of this test facility is to test newly designed pumps of low weight for performance. First the criteria for an impeller design are highlighted. The advantage of weight reduction by selecting suitable material for the pump is recommended. Such pump’s performance under reduced weight is to be assessed. In this regard, the description of testing of pump is explained through an existing generic multi-stage submersible pump test facility. Related instruments associated with the measurement of various pump parameters are described. The tests are conducted as per IS-8034-2001. A testing strategy is given to achieve this objective.
