There exist some problems in the present cancer trea tm ent, such as: (1) prevalence of excessive treatment; (2) lack of long-term rese arch plan; (3) lack of reasonable comprehensive treatment; (4) lack of operative individualized treatment; (5) the superiority of traditional Chinese medicine ( TCM) was undervalued and underused. Integrative medicine should play an importan t role in the prevention and treatment of cancer. Further research should be car ried out in the following aspects: (1) enrich and improve the theoretical knowle dge of TCM on cancer; (2) enhance the research on rationalization and standardiz ation of cancer treatment program of integrative medicine; (3) enhance the resea rch on criterion of therapeutical effect of integrative medicine in treating can cer; (4) enhance the research on prevention and treatment of postoperative recur rence and metastasis of cancer by integrative medicine.
