| الوصف: | I am deeply honoured to give this, the first Mayneord Lecture of the Institute, and would like to thank the President, 3M Limited, and the Council for the invitation. I felt able to accept only because of the experience and contribution of others with whom I have worked, and whom I wish to acknowledge for their contribution and friendship. It is also a pleasure for me personally to honour in this way Professor Mayneord, who kindled my interest in medical physics and who has guided me in my approach to the subject in its widest sense. Over the past twenty or so years I have been fortunate enough to be involved in the radiotherapy work of a large cancer hospital, the Royal Marsden, and to participate in some of the rapid growth in medical imaging. This lecture is based on the experience gained during that period, placed I hope in perspective by a more northerly view following my move to a Department that is also involved in both radiotherapy and imaging, but in the context of a large general hospital and me... |
