Cara Judea Alhadeff’s work is not easy to categorize. She arranges objects and bodies, insides and outsides in such a way that the characters become hybrids that populate dream-like worlds. The photographs explore the body as a membrane between sensuality and restraint, surrender and resistance. Her intention is to question body identity, public and private view, and to disrupt the distinction between the interior and exterior of both psychological and physical experiences. Cara Judea Alhadeff born in Boulder, Colorado graduated from Penn State University. Internationally, she has exhibited and won awards for her photography and for her published essays in Cultural Studies. She recently exhibited at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art. Opening hours: Mondays and Wednesdays 10:00 – 15:00 Tuesdays and Thursdays 10:00 – 18:00 Cara Judea Alhadeff, ‘The Alchemy of Intimacy’, exhibition presented at the exhibition and symposium How Dangerous is the Ir-rational?, ICI Berlin, 30 October 2009 |
