الوصف: Open Access is now placed in the broader Open Science hat, important are the eight pillars of the OS and the FOSTER taxonomy. ... Open science is broadly defined as "a systemic change in the modus operandi of doing research and organizing science". In general, the paradigm shift embodied by Open Science refers to the rapid development of interactive and collaborative ways to acquire, generate and disseminate knowledge, facilitated by networks based on modern information and communication tools. This recent evolution includes several related trends and phenomena, ranging from citizen science to web 2.0. The presentation traces the evolution of Open Access in these twenty years, from its inception to today, touching the most important stages, looking at what point it has reached and what remains to be done, even if perhaps there is no goal Open Access because OA is a constantly evolving journey. As scientific communication changes, so do the roads and paths to reach open access. As science evolves into ongoing research work, open access accompanies this evolution by integrating the activities of related sectors. Since the rise of the OA movement in 1999 to the present, many important achievements have been achieved. There are still some critical issues that require attention, in particular in interpreting the shades of the various OA colors: the two modes, green (storage in open archives or repositories) and gold (publication in open access journals) plus the only two options, but today there are nuances that mark different roads such as the bronze way or the red way (APC and the profits of commercial oligopolies) or the black one (predatory publishing) which is also characterized by the so-called libraries of shadows. The analysis on the growth of Open Access resources in the various contexts however represents a positive progress. The repositories of the green territories (IR, repository of disciplinary and research data), the lists (journals, monographs and archives), mark a growing trend. The presentation briefly compares commercial OA archive models, also examining new pre-press archive models and the link to citizen science and science journalism.
