| مستخلص: | In this paper we give a brief survey of the modal theory of polyphony (MTP). As this theory falls within the general framework of Scandinavian polyphony theory, it is directly inspired by the works of Ducrot and Anscombre. However, the MTP differs in some respects from their theory. The main idea of the MTP, according to which the constituent semantic contents of linguistic polyphony – the points of view– are divisible into a “shown” modus and a veridictional dictum, has some undeniable heuristic virtues, but seems incompatible with the epistemological choices of non modal, argumentative and “anti-referentialist” theories of polyphony (Anscombre, Carel, Ducrot, Lescano). The MTP also differs in some important respects from (partly) referentialist theories of polyphony such as ScaPoLine-theory and praxematic dialogism. Dans cet article, nous donnons un bref aperçu de la théorie modale de la polyphonie (TMP), qui, s’inscrivant dans la théorie scandinave de la polyphonie, s’inspire directement des travaux de Ducrot et d’Anscombre, tout en s’en distinguant à certains égards. L’idée fondamentale de la TMP – selon laquelle les « points de vue » constitutifs de la polyphonie sont articulés en un modus montré et un dictum véridicible, et qui s’avère avoir des vertus heuristiques indéniables – semble incompatible avec les choix épistémologiques qui président aux théories amodales – argumentatives et « antiréférentialistes » – de la polyphonie (Anscombre, Carel, Ducrot, Lescano). La TMP se distinguent également, sur certains points importants, des théories (partiellement) référentialistes de la polyphonie, telles que la ScaPoLine et le dialogisme praxématique.
