مستخلص: Global interest in complementary and integrative medicine (CIM) has risen exponentially over recent decades, with recent research from a number of countries indicating that this interest in CIM may also extend to pregnancy (Frawley et al. 2013). Two recent literature reviews have highlighted the growing research interest and widespread use of CIM during pregnancy (Adams et al. 2009; Hall et al. 2011) and this chapter draws upon the findings of these two reviews and more recent literature as well as new analyses from contemporary fieldwork to examine the current opportunities and challenges of CIM use, specifically self-prescribed CIM, among pregnant women.
