| مستخلص: | Throughout the 19th century, in the western region of Minas Gerais, the process of occupation accentuated with the installation of cores of settlement and opening of roads. These actions were part of the concern with the interiorization of the territory and, concomitantly, the consolidation of the principles of modernity and civility recurrents in this period in Brazil. In the current region called Triângulo Mineiro, three camps stood and reached the emancipation, becoming the main towns where there was an urban nucleus and, especially, from the installation of the railroad, and in which the commercial warehouses and the civilizational pole of reference for the other localities were consituted. Discussing the process of formation and consolidation of the urban world and its corollary in the cities of Uberaba, Uberabinha (today Uberlândia) and Araguari, at the end of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century, is the guiding axis of this article that supports itself in the cultural history and it has the journals and memoralists as privileged sources. Ao longo do século XIX, na região oeste de Minas Gerais, acentuou-se o processo de ocupação com a instalação de núcleos de povoamento e abertura de estradas. Essas ações integravam a preocupação com a interiorização do território e, concomitantemente, de consolidação dos princípios de modernidade e civilidade recorrentes no Brasil do referido período. Na atual região denominada Triângulo Mineiro, três arraiais se destacaram e alcançaram a emancipação, tornando-se as principais cidades onde havia um núcleo urbano e que, especialmente, a partir da instalação da ferrovia, constituíram os entrepostos comerciais e o pólo civilizacional de referência para as demais localidades. Discutir o processo de formação e consolidação do mundo urbano e seu corolário nas cidades de Uberaba, Uberabinha (atual Uberlândia) e Araguari, no final do século XIX e início do XX é o eixo norteador desse artigo que se ampara na história cultural e tem os periódicos e memorialistas como fontes privilegiadas. |
