| مستخلص: | The family caregiver of a dependent older adult faces complex situations that can impair his or her health. The physical and emotional wear and tear becomes increasingly evident if you are not able to apply certain strategies or to engage other family members. The purpose of the research was to assess the family caregiver’s perception of the practice of caring for the elderly. It is a qualitative research based on phenomenology and social representations as methods of inquiry, and assumed in the social actions that produced 23 family caregivers as target population. The information was obtained through in-depth interviews with a questionnaire of semi-structured questions, following what was described by Martínez Migueles and under the theory of Social Representations. The results obtained show that the meaning of care in the family caregiver, is built through contributions, scope, care, recognition and attitudes performed with the older adult, so it is necessary to understand that caring involves and shares the human experience through a transpersonal relationship and respect, aspects that serve to improve the processes of care in any health situation that the person has. In conclusion, the family caregiver has a satisfactory perception about care and social representation is formed from the activities that the caregiver makes intelligible. El cuidador familiar de un adulto mayor dependiente se enfrenta a situaciones complejas que pueden deteriorar su salud. El desgaste tanto físico y emocional se hace cada vez más evidente si no es capaz de aplicar ciertas estrategias o de lograr la participación de otros familiares. El propósito de la investigación se centró en evaluar la percepción del cuidador familiar acerca de la práctica del cuidado brindado al adulto mayor. Es una investigación con enfoque cualitativo apoyada en la fenomenología y las representaciones sociales como métodos deindagación, y asumida en las acciones sociales que produjeron 23 cuidadores familiares como población diana. La información se obtuvo a través de entrevistas a profundidad con un cuestionario de preguntas semi-estructuradas, siguiendo lo descrito por Martínez Migueles y bajo la teoría de las Representaciones Sociales. Los resultados obtenidos muestran que el significado del cuidado en el cuidador familiar, se construye a través de contribuciones, alcances, cuidados, reconocimientos y actitudes que se realizan con el adulto mayor, por lo que se hace necesario comprender que cuidar envuelve y comparte la experiencia humana a través de una relación transpersonal y de respeto, aspectos que sirven para mejorar los procesos de cuidado en cualquier situación de salud que tenga la persona. En conclusión, el cuidador familiar posee una percepción satisfactoria acerca del cuidado y la representación social se encuentra formada a partir de las actividades que el cuidador las hace inteligibles.Recibido: 6/4/2020Aceptado: 13/8/2020Fecha de publicación: 16/11/2020 |
