مستخلص: and waste have become a frightening reality because of food waste produced for consumption. Reducing losses is considered one of the principal factors to achieve the target of food security. Loss and waste represent not only food waste but also cause the loss of one-third of the production inputs and labor used in the production process within the food chain. In addition, it also includes waste of water and low productivity.The study aims to calculate the percentage of loss and its causes of the horticultural crops Tangerines and Seville oranges in Baghdad governorate for the season 2020 and estimate the economic impacts on Tangerines and Seville oranges crops at the sample level.The results showed that the Tangerines crop tended to decrease during the study period, with an annual growth rate estimated at 8%, while the production of the Seville oranges tended to a relative increase during the study period, with an annual growth rate estimated at 1%. It was also shown that the Tangerines and Seville oranges crop the net return of about (348.7, 207.6) thousand ID/ acre, respectively, and the profitability of the one dinar was about (1.9, 1.3) ID, respectively, while the return on investment per dinar was about (2.9, 2.3) ID, respectively. The percentage of losses of Tangerines and Seville oranges crops was about (12% and 13%) respectively. The results showed that the orchard owners in the selected sample had lost about 38% and 17% of the expected total production rate of the Tangerines and Seville oranges crops estimated at 14.4 and 19.7 tons each, respectively. The average total of post-harvesting losses of Tangerines and Seville oranges crops amounted to about 5.5 and 3.3 tons each
