مستخلص: Communication Challenge Softball is a developmentally appropriate game for middle school students. The game allows them to develop new communication skills using American Sign Language (signing). Traditional softball has been a part of physical education for years, and remains a popular sport played by children in community leagues throughout the country. Softball will undoubtedly remain a popular recreational activity for years to come. However, the sport has limitations when played in a physical education setting. All too often children who need the most opportunities to improve their skills are delegated to positions that require minimal action and have little or no impact on the game. This article discusses the rules of Communication Challenge Softball which were designed to create active learning opportunities not available in traditional softball. (Contains 4 tables and a list of 2 resources.)
