مستخلص: SIGNIFICANCE: Organ transplantation has saved the lives of countless people. Although the success rate for organ transplantation continues to improve, many barriers remain, including infection after transplantation, the development of malignancy following solid organ transplantation, and the phenomenon of transplant rejection. Transplant rejection is caused by an immune response by the organ recipient to molecules on the transplanted organs that are coded for by the human leukocyte antigen (HLA) gene complex. Additionally, inadequate organ supply remains a barrier; for example, in 2023, there were more than 103 patients on the transplant waiting list and only 23,286 donors.
