مستخلص: Puppet theatre has played many important roles in history: in antiquity it had a ritual, magical function, in the Middle Ages religious, in the Renaissance and Baroque aesthetic, in romanticism and realism nationalist, and in modern times puppets stand in for living actors. Currently, puppet theatre in Slovakia mixes all these functions. It is still part of pagan and religious ceremonies (processions with nativity scenes, the funeral of the bass, etc.), while elsewhere performing aesthetic, educational and therapeutic roles. It can assist teachers and librarians in their educational functions, of which reading support is just one. The principles of puppet theatre find their place in all the humanities, but also in improving communication in classrooms and libraries. Puppet theatre is also a child's first contact with dramatic art and can kindle an interest in all kinds of art. As early as 350 BC, Aristotle pointed to the attractive influence of the puppets on people. Playing with marionettes and hand puppets, along with mime and shadow play are amongst our oldest means of communication. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
