An essay on animal blood sport and its connection to the validation of heterosexuality and masculinity is presented. The author provides a review of literature on sports sociology which calls for more research on animal blood sport as a form of violence related to sports. She discusses hunting, cockfighting and bullfighting as a way to validate heterosexual virility and masculinity. She also put an emphasis on dogfighting as a sporting ritual of macho sexuality with infused with menacing violence and aggression. A discussion of animal blood sports as a form of animal abuse and violence is also provided. |
