The article examines the continuation of Nicolaás Núñez to "Cárcel de amor," by Diego de San Pedro. The popularity of the sequel among readers, physical union in print of San Pedro's work and Núñez's continuation, and the editorial success that the latter enjoyed are assessed. The role of the continuation as the starting point in the history of the Spanish sequel is explored. A textual and material approach is undertaken to analyze Núñez's continuation. |
