The article focuses on the Kikuchi-Fujimoto disease (KFD). The rare condition is also called histiocytic necrotizing lymphadenitis whose etiology is said to be unknown. It adds that KFD tends to affect people below 30 years of age and is prevalent among women. Characteristics of the disease are cited which include a proliferative and/or necrotizing process in the lymph nodes and the presence of necrosis and karyorrhexis in enlarged lymph nodes. |
