مستخلص: Haglund's deformity is a bony lump on the back of the heel, which typically develops in people who wear improper shoes. It usually develops in people who play many sports and clinically manifests itself with severe pain on the back of the heel, in the area where the Achilles tendon attaches to the heel, and local swelling. A radiograph is the main exam needed for diagnosis, while a Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) and US examinations are only complementary. A conservative approach for patients with bursitis can provide symptomatic relief but it does not resolve the deformity. Surgery, on the other hand, can remove the excess bone from the heel and, therefore, restore the normal anatomy of the foot. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
