The article discusses whether polar bears are facing extinction due to climate change or rising in number. Though the International Union for Conservation of Nature has long considered polar bears vulnerable to extinction, several subpopulations across the Arctic Ocean show a totally different picture. There is uncertainty over the population of polar bears across the 19 Arctic subpopulations, however, in some places numbers are stable or increasing. |
