مستخلص: Aim: The aim of this study was to highlight the importance of clinical supervision (CS) in the current climate, examine the important issues surrounding CS events in surgery and how these may be overcome. Methods: Identify the important issues of confidentiality, roles and time management in CS and how these impact the trainee and supervisor. Provide evidence through literature review for current education theory and practice surrounding CS in surgery. Results and Conclusion: There remains ambiguity regarding the guidelines supporting the act of CS, and therefore, the role of the supervisor becomes multifaceted. This paper highlights that the duty of education lies not only with the individual (trainee and trainer) but also the organisations in which it takes place, with responsibility for learning from all parties concerned.
