مستخلص: Supervisory Control Theory (SCT) is a general technique to synthesize controller for Discrete Event Systems (DES) such as manufacturing systems, robot systems, communication systems, transport systems etc. The controller for DES is also called as supervisor. The SCT uses formal languages and automata concepts for supervisor synthesis. In SCT, a plant can be modeled by using automata. This automaton is an event sequence generator. Uncontrolled behavior of plant is defined by these generated sequences. The desired controlled behavior of system is defined by specifications. By using SCT, a supervisor can be synthesized for avoiding plant entering from some undesired states. After synthesizing process, the computed supervisor can be implemented to carry out real control tasks. The Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) are mostly used to perform control tasks in modern industry due to some obvious advantages. It is also obvious that, the supervisor is commonly implemented by means of PLCs or dedicated embedded systems. The most popular computing language for programming PLCs is Ladder Logic Diagrams (LLD). The supervisors in automata form can be easily converted to LLD code. In this, report fundamental information about SCT is presented. As an example, a small manufacturing system that consist of two machines and a buffer is considered. The implementation methodologies of supervisor techniques are also provided. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
