The article is part of the project 'MEDIM' -Measurement of Multiple Discrimination-, carried out by the UCM research group and funded by the Ministry of Economy. It proposes an analysis that combines different sources of information, both concerning secondary data (from various files: qualitative, documentary, statistical and survey), as well as those generated by the research team (qualitative and quantitative materials). Its main specific objectives: 1) development of a conceptual framework on multiple discrimination, 2) assestment of elements that lead to discrimination, its externalisation or concealment (in relation to profiles and socio-economic contexts, values and existing legal framework), 3) analysis of the social discourses in circulation around discrimination, its recognition as a complex phenomenon of a multiple or concurrent nature. As a starting point, contact is made with the social and political-administrative reality by analyzing the documentation produced (European and especially Spanish). This first approach serves as a starting point and contextualization of other related inquiries, with the usual review of the academic literature (social and legal sciences), from which a theoretical framework is developed to guide the empirical study (qualitative and quantitative). El artículo se enmarca en el proyecto 'MEDIM' -Medición de la Discriminación Múltiple-, realizado por grupo de investigación UCM y financiado por el Ministerio de Economía. Plantea un análisis que conjuga diferentes fuentes de información, tanto concernientes a datos secundarios (procedentes de archivos diversos: cualitativos, documentales, estadísticos y de encuesta), como los generados por el equipo investigador (materiales cualitativos y cuantitativos). Sus objetivos específicos principales: 1) elaboración de un marco conceptual sobre discriminación múltiple, 2) análisis de factores que propician la discriminación, su exteriorización u ocultación (en relación con perfiles y contextos socioeconómicos, valores y marco legal vigente), 3) análisis de los discursos sociales en circulación alrededor de la discriminación, su reconocimiento como fenómeno complejo de naturaleza múltiple o concurrente. Como punto de partida se entra en contacto con la realidad social y político-administrativa mediante el análisis de documentación producida (europea y sobre todo española). Esta primera aproximación sirve de arranque y contextualización de otras indagaciones relacionadas, con la habitual revisión de la literatura académica (ciencias sociales y jurídicas), a partir de la que se elabora un marco teórico que orienta el estudio empírico (cualitativo y cuantitativo).
