مستخلص: Perovskite-type oxide lanthanum orthoferrite (LaFeO3) is the newest type of candidate for electrode material because of its high electrochemical capacity and good activation property. Doping with Magnesium of LaFeO3 changes the structural properties. Material LaFe1-xMgxO3 (x = 0.4 and 0.5) synthesized using the sol-gel method. The structural properties of the materials were determined using XRD and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy. Eg was measured using UV-VIS. The elemental composition was identified by X-Ray Fluorescence (XRF). The orthorhombic crystal structure with space group Pbnm in the sample is characterized by XRD. A second phase was identified as La2O3. XRF spectra confirmed the presence of Lanthanum, Magnesium, and Ferrum in the ratio of each element were agree with the calculation. The vibrational modes (bending and symmetric stretching) of the Fe / MgO6 octahedra were observed by FTIR spectrum. Ultraviolet-Visible spectrophotometer analysis indicated a decreasing energy gap with Mg content. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
