مستخلص: As ecosystem services represent direct benefits that ecosystems provide to people, sustaining socio-economic development and human well-being, a wealth of research has addressed ecosystem services assessment methods to ensure the needed base for policy actions and management decisions. Nowadays, many methods are available, trying to respond to different aims of assessment and socio-economic contexts. The paper's purpose was to develop a tool for selecting the most appropriate methods for assessment of ES provided by a natural protected area, based on a set of criteria and criteria scores. A total of 28 valuation methods were identified in the scientific literature and analysed. The developed selecting tool was applied in a case study regarding ES's evaluation provided by forests from Piatra Craiului National Park (Southern Carpathians). In our case study, the best valuation methods proved to be methods based on the analysis of photos distributed on social networks, market prices method and modelling of ecosystem services method.
