The article focuses on the Stowarzyszenie Elektryków Polskich (SEP) celebrated the 280th anniversary of the birth of Fr. Józef Herman Osiński (1738–1802), a monk in the Piarist Order, who, through his scientific achievements and publications, made a very large contribution to science and its popularization. It mentions he conducted research on electrical lightning discharges and developed the structure of the lightning rod. It also mentions that lightning rods of its construction were installed in 1784 on the tower of the Royal Castle in Warsaw, Poland and on the tower of the Jasna Góra Sanctuary under his supervision. |
