Hooton gives a detailed and now standard account of key ideas considered central to Bonhoeffer's Christology, including transcendence, freedom, vicarious representative action, action in accordance with Christ, Christ as relational ( I pro me i and I for others i ), and reality as one in Christ. In a letter composed whilst in prison, in the months before his death at the close of the Second World War, the German theologian Dietrich Bonhoeffer sketched what he called an "outline for a book." Promoters of this "populist Bonhoeffer" do not engage in careful scholarship of Bonhoeffer's writing, suggests Haynes in his book I The Battle for Bonhoeffer i (2018). [Extracted from the article] |
