مستخلص: This article focuses on the political preaching tradition in Ulster, Ireland, with reference to the oratory of politician Ian Paisley. Paisley's political evangelism is firmly grounded in a distinctly Ulster preaching tradition--a tradition reaching back into the early nineteenth century and foreshadowing the stance that Paisley has adopted today. Reduced to its essence, the Ulster political preaching tradition appears to be comprised of three interrelated, yet recognizable elements: an intertwining of politics and Protestant religion; anti-Catholic appeals growing from the perceived threat of Papist conspiracies; and a willingness to engage in confrontation with authorities or opponents. -
